I’m a single mom of two girls and when I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, I felt like it was a death sentence. I was devastated and terrified. I made funeral plans, drafted a will, and designated the appropriate people to care for my children in case I don’t make it. I googled photos and watched YouTube videos of breast cancer, and I could not find a story that I can relate to. I felt lost, confused, and scared. Not knowing what steps to take next frustrated me more; until I was introduced to Ms. Xai by a mutual friend. Like an angel sent from above, she gave me hope! Every emotion she felt when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer to the moment she went under the knife and even her fears of chemo and radiation, was exactly what I was feeling. Finally, I found someone I could relate to. She walked me through all the tests and procedures that needed to be done. She gave me peace and comfort I couldn't find from family and friends. Her continued strength and energy to fight for life was like a light at the end of a tunnel that gave me hope. Her strength to fight cancer and passion to live has touched me deeply and it will touch yours too. She inspires me. I’m so very proud of her and I can’t wait for you to hear her story.
